Splore Festival 2019 has released their entertainment schedule so that festival-goers can plan ahead and minimise the day-of-stress of having to choose from 100 music & performance acts. As well as mind blowing performances, Splore has commissioned 15 art projects staged throughout the beautiful Tapapakanga Park to explore this 21-24 of February.

Included in the full-on schedule is Wendy's Wellness, an area that has since tripled in size from its conception as more and more festival-goers pour in to find their flow with yoga or have a massage. The area is also 'kid-friendly,' with their fully programmed entertainment zone.

This year the Splore Mobi site supplied by Spark will make it easy for festival-goers to carry the seven zones of entertainment in their pocket and find the art installations around the park with the cartoon styled map. This also acts as a festival guide. People can text ‘splore’ to 332 to receive the link to the Splore Mobi site. The schedule is also available for download from the Splore website.

2019 will see Splore move even closer to it's Zero Waste goal, which they are extremely passionate about.

“Splore is committed to #LeaveNoTrace, leaving the beautiful Tapapakanga exactly as we found it. We ask people to bring their own drink bottles, invest in quality long-lasting camping equipment, avoid the use of harmful plastics such as non-biodegradable glitter and glow sticks, and use the composting, recycling bins on site." Splore is a safe place where everyone can express themselves openly. Both Minty and Kublikowski are in agreement that creating Splore is a huge responsibility and it’s people’s behaviour—past and present—that has created that special Splore vibe.

Respect for the land, local iwi and fellow audience members is core to Splore’s success. This means being mindful of cultural appropriation and seeking consent before you hug or touch anyone.

Splore is celebrating their 20th birthday and to do so, they’re putting on a killer fest. Emma Vickers, Splore’s Performance Director, puts it rather succinctly “We are celebrating everything! Our mantra is “Nothing is impossible!”. Each year performance at Splore grows and we are very proud to have developed the performing arts from small beginnings to a world class multi-disciplinary show on its 20th year”

Headlining Splore is Chris Oh!, an ex-shy Kiwi who has redefined himself with his sultry moves and perky bottom. This acclaimed burlesque performer has won accolades worldwide and leaves women and men breathless—and a tad confused—with his act.

The dedicated performance zone, the Living Lounge, will be a showcase of skill and talent. Over the weekend the Living Lounge will be invaded by dancers, tricksters, aerialists, and loopers and soaked in comedy, burlesque, and just general tomfoolery.

On Saturday night, the Living Lounge turns into “Club Hedonista,” which celebrates the fabulousness and eccentricities of Splore and the theory of Hedonism, “pleasure—the satisfaction of desires—is the highest good and proper aim of human life.”
