Times & info for Wellington's Guns N' Roses concert this Thursday
Excitement is reaching fever pitch in Wellington as Westpac Stadium prepares for the world’s greatest rock band Guns N' Roses to take to the stage with their arsenal of hits this Thursday 2nd February. This will be the first of two stadium concerts in New Zealand, before they head to Auckland for Saturday 4th for their Western Springs Stadium performance.
Adding to the rock n roll revelry, legendary Australian rock band Wolfmother will kick things off, as they did when they supported Guns N' Roses for two US concerts last July.
To make sure you get there on time and as smoothly as possible, here’s some important information for Thursday’s concert:
CONCERT TIMINGS
1:00pm - Public car park opens (Please note no commuter parking is available on this day - event parking only - refer to the Concert Information below).
3:30pm - Ticket Box Office opens
5:00pm - Gates open
6:45pm - Wolfmother
8:00pm - Guns N' Roses
STADIUM CAR PARK
The car park will be closed for standard commuter car parking on Thursday 2 February. It will however open at 1:00pm for this event at a cost of $30 (please note there is a fee for paying by credit card or eftpos of .60c) - limited capacity.
GETTING TO AND FROM THE STADIUM
Make sure you check transport routes in advance and leave plenty of time for your travel to Westpac Stadium so you can kick back and enjoy the show. A traffic management plan is in place on the night:
If you are wishing to drop-off on the night, we encourage you to use Thorndon Quay, Bunny St or Hinemoa St.
People movers will be operating on the Fran Wilde Walkway from 4:00pm.
Road closures will be in place from 9:00pm.
No vehicles are permitted to enter the Stadium to pick-up at the end of the show.
Both Southbound and Northbound turning lanes into the Stadium will be closed. Alternative pick-up locations are at Bunny St, Thorndon Quay and Hinemoa St.
