WOMAD have announces one very special group performing exclusively for the WOMAD New Zealand 2017 festival. Originally formed in 1977, English 2tone and ska legends The Specials will be gracing the stage at the world's festival held once again at the stunning Brooklands Park and TSB Bowl of Brooklands, New Plymouth. 

The Specials, a multi-racial seven-piece band who hailed from the industrial city of Coventry, UK combined the angry, disaffected voice of punk with the wind-your-waistsensibility of ska and reggae to re-define pop music and make Britain dance again and are still, today one of the most influential groups in UK musical history.

The full line up announcement of the 2017 festival will be released on the evening of Tuesday 18th October.
