Racing release new single ‘Devil’s Work’

Racing are back! And they’re running the gamut with their new kick-ass single ‘Devil’s Work’

The second single from Racing’s upcoming debut full-length album, ‘Devil’s Work’ once again showcases a band that refuses to be bound by genre and that isn’t afraid to push the envelope with their sound, all the while creating dance floor magic.

A slippery groove that snakes its way through three minutes of re-imagined drums, guitar and bass, ‘Devil’s Work’ is marked by lead singer Ed Knowles’ distinctive falsetto voice. The song’s lyrics cutting their way through the rhythms: “The heart tattoos what it really wants, the heart turns blue with what it really wants.”

This is Racing bringing us one step closer to their late night world of groove and glory - and their upcoming album, due to be released later this year.

‘Devil’s Work’ follows the release of the album’s lead single, ‘Motel Pool’, which was self-produced at Roundhead Studios in Auckland and mixed by Dave Eringa (UK) of Kylie Minogue and Manic Street Preachers fame.

Described as a cauldron of groove stirred by a bombastically bent bass line, ‘Motel Pool’has been on Radioscope’s All Airplay Top 100 for 15 weeks and counting. It peaked at #1 on the rock radio charts and is currently sitting at #2. It has been in the Top 40 for 18 weeks at rock!

Racing is made up of long-time collaborators Ed Knowles and Sven Pettersen - formerly of The Checks. Completing the line-up are Daniel Barrett, formerly of Sherpa and Izaak Houston, formerly of Space Creeps.
