Racing reveal new song 'The Bass'
Hailed as the saviours of the Kiwi rock ‘n’ roll revival movement, Auckland band Racing have today dropped their new single ‘The Bass’.
You can check out the song on Spotify HERE.
Racing (consisting of Ed Knowles on vocals, Sven Pettersen on guitar, Daniel Barrett on bass and Izaak Houston on drums) emerged from the ashes of one of New Zealand’s most loved and highly regarded indie-rock bands, The Checks, which Knowles and Pettersen fronted from 2002 until its break-up in 2012.
With Barrett (formerly of Sherpa) and Houston (formerly of Space Creeps) completing the line-up, the four-piece set about earning their stripes on the live circuit, toiling away in the darkness of Auckland’s late night bar scene and playing at some of the country’s best-known festivals, including Rhythm & Vines and Auckland City Limits.
Wal Reid from Libel reviewed the band's show last year noting "Racing are a group hell-bent on rock ‘n’ roll revival, the very fact they have revived the all essential guitar solo in a three-minute pop song is a welcome return, the packed out Whammy Bar testament to the quartet’s surge in popularity”.
Now, Racing builds on their reputation as one of the best Kiwi live acts around with the release of ‘The Bass’. A hypnotic anthem, which straddles the worlds of psychedelic indie-rock and dance, the single is a sure fire sign that Racing is a band destined for great things and sets the scene for the release of their debut EP due out later this year.
